Saint Paul, MN, December 6, 2022 — The Jerome Foundation is honored to announce 71 recipients of grants totaling $5,466,000 through its Arts Organization Grants program. These grants support ongoing services, programs and activities in Minnesota and New York City for early career artists in dance, media (including film/video), literature, music, theater and visual arts.
These Arts Organization Grant recipients represent renewed support from the Foundation’s January 2020 panel process. While a next application and review round of Arts Organization grants would have typically been slated for 2021, this was, and is, still a period of intense recovery with Arts Organizations facing ongoing significant stress, precarity, and uncertainty. The Foundation therefore decided—with unanimous support from the Jerome board—to extend grants to the January 2020 cohort, with a 20% increase to all grantees including alternates and finalists, for an additional two years.
Keeping with the flexible approach established in 2020, organizations have the choice to use grant funds for general activities or specific programs supporting early career artists (except as noted). Grantees may also use up to 25% of funds for general operating purposes.
Additionally, the Jerome Foundation is proud to announce a $300,000 grant for 2023–24 to Propel Nonprofits as administrator of Seeding Cultural Treasures, an initiative to nourish and cultivate the landscape of emerging arts and culture organizations run by and for Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC).
